Arts Alive! Artisan Market

Mission: To create a vibrant, street level cultural space that features visual artisans and connects them with our community's visitors and residents to enhance the cultural experience in our parks

Following a review of the program in the winter of 2014, we are pleased to introduce the new Arts Alive! Artisan Market. With a goal to respond to the community's growing interest in the artisan experience, Arts Alive! will feature a limited number of unique, handcrafted, quality artwork and artistic services.

Located at the lakeside walkway entrance near "The Spirit of Sail" sculpture in City Park, artisans will showcase their artwork Thursday thru Sunday between 12:00 and 9:00 p.m., from June 12th to September 1st, and on stat holidays between Canada Day and Labour Day.

To complement the market experience, live performances will be featured each day of the Arts Alive! Artisan Market. Come down and maybe you'll find your favourite Busker!

Arts Alive! Application Process...1, 2, 3

Are you an artisan with a unique product that you think would be appealing to the community? We want to create a diverse product mix for the Arts Alive! Artisan Market by featuring:

  • handmade, original and unique artwork
  • artwork that exhibits the technical and artistic skill of the craftsman
  • items that have a local or regional connection to our community
  • products that have appeal for the visitors to our community (i.e. a keepsake item of their visit to Kelowna)

We only have 20 spots available, so we are looking for a strong commitment from our participants to attend each day of the Market. If this sounds like a fit for you, download the application package here.

Key dates to note:

  • April 15th - first application period opens
  • May 9th - first application period closes
  • May 13th - jury convenes first applications
  • May 16th - successful applicants are notified
  • June 12th - Arts Alive! Artisan Market launches for the season
  • September 1st - final day of the Arts Alive! Artisan Market

Payment Information - You must include payment for your permit when you submit your application. Once an artist is approved, their payment will be deposited. Unsuccessful applicants will have their payments returned upon notification. Cheques should be made payable to "Festivals Kelowna" and dated no later than May 16th, 2014 (for the initial application period), or with the date of submission for applications received after this initial intake.

Following the initial call for applicants, remaining spaces are allocated as available. Due to the program's popularity and the limited number of spaces, we cannot guarantee availability so we encourage you to apply early.
