|Pianos in Parks|
In partnership with:
“Pianos in Parks” is an initiative created by Festivals Kelowna in 2015 with a goal to animate and decorate public spaces through community interaction.
Inspired by similar ‘pop-up piano’ initiatives that run in cities all around the world, 8 free, playable and accessible pianos can be found in high profile, public spaces throughout our community including downtown Kelowna, Kelowna Memorial Cemetery, and Rutland that will encourage residents and visitors to reveal their "inner Mozart".
Decorated by local artists in a collaborative effort, our 8 pianos showcase the artwork of local Disney Interactive artists, painter Cynthia Gunsinger, members of the Federation of Canadian Artists Kelowna branch, Kelowna Museums staff, developing artists from Rutland Senior Secondary, and members of the Festivals Kelowna staff team. Not only will the pianos be functional but will add to the public art landscape in urban and park spaces. They are all unique and visually delightful. Can you decide which one is your favourite? They’re all pretty fabulous!
“Pianos in Parks” will be open for playing from early June until late September and can be found:
We invite you to play a public piano, take a pic, or video of yourself or your friends, and share it on social media. You can even tag it #PianosInPark.
A very special thank you to our program partners, without whose assistance “Pianos in Parks” wouldn’t be possible:
