A unique visual arts event for Kelowna

Introduced to Kelowna in 2015, “Arts On The Avenue” is a one day, arts-focused, outdoor event celebrating and promoting our local visual arts community. Now in its' 3rd year, this funky event features various elements relating to visual arts including opportunities for retail sales, live performances, and hands-on community engagement art projects.

In 2017, artists of all disciplines will again take over the street and sidewalks of Bernard Avenue's 300 AND 400 blocks from Water St. to Ellis St., making it perfect for an evening of artistic revelry in our beautiful downtown!

This free event will take place from 4:00 to 10:00 pm on Thursday, July 26th, 2018

A call for artists is done each spring with artists approved in late May/early June.  Please check back for updates and 2018 application.

Who can apply?

If you’re artsy, crafty, or a fine artist through and through we want you to apply! This is a celebration of Visual Arts in its many forms and we want to give you yet another opportunity to showcase your talent. All you have to do is tell us what category your work would be considered and fill out the appropriate application form. There are a limited number of spaces available so we encourage you to apply by the deadline to be accepted in the first round of selection. After our initial deadline, all applicants will be selected on a first come first served basis in categories not yet filled.

This event retains high artistic integrity through a juried selection process; acceptance is based on the quality, originality and craftsmanship of the work to be sold. All artists are required to read our guidelines for application and apply through one of two processes. This year's application coming Spring 2018.

How to Apply:

We collaborate with various artist collectives in the Kelowna area to create a simpler application process. If you are an artist that has participated in any of the following events in 2016 you may apply using our shorter Fast-Track process. Our participation partners include:

  • Artisan - Etsy Show
  • Craft Culture - Spring or Winter
  • Okanagan Artisan Guild Show & Sale
  • Make-it! Okanagan
  • Artsco Exhibition (Artscape/Downtown Gallery)
  • Past Arts on the Avenue participants

If you have participated in any of these you get to save time, and create more art instead. Find the Fast Track Application on Page 3 of the 2018 Application Package.

If you have not been previously adjudicated by one of our partners (see above), we ask you to complete a more detailed application which allows our panel of professional artists/crafters to adjudicate your work. It will be up to our Selection Committee to make the final decision on who is accepted into the show. Find the Full Application on pages 4 & 5 of the 2018 Application Package.
