Celebrate Canada Day Kelowna

LATEST NEWS - 2021 Celebrate Canada Day CANCELLED

Following the recently announced B.C. Restart Plan, larger outdoor gatherings in Phase 3 will only be permitted on July 1st at the earliest. The Kelowna Canada Day celebration is one of the largest in our province at over 65,000 guests attending each year across multiple indoor and outdoor venues. As such, preparing for such a sizeable, complex event requires a longer lead time than is currently available to us. Additionally, after such a tough year for our local restaurants, breweries, and wineries, we believe Canada Day presents a great opportunity for them to shine and welcome guests to their venues.

As a result, the City of Kelowna and Festivals Kelowna have jointly decided to postpone our Canada Day festival to 2022. We will instead focus on producing a celebration for this Fall when our community can again gather and enjoy all the great elements of a festival including live music, games, food, and possibly… fireworks.

Celebrate Canada Day - Kelowna" is our annual, free community festival held in Waterfront Park, Jim Stuart Park, Kerry Park, as well as Prospera Place for residents and visitors to celebrate our Nation's birthday. Each year our community comes together to explore drop-in games and live performances that are multi-generational, family-friendly, and sure to entertain you all day long.

Did you know....over 60,000 people attend
these celebrations each year?

Our local celebration is produced as a community partnership between Festivals Kelowna, Folkfest, the Kelowna City Band, and our many activity partners.

Here is a look at the typical event:

Prospera Place:

  • Official Celebrate Canada Day Ceremonies, including a "Happy Birthday Canada"
cake presented by Coldwell Banker Horizon Realty (cake service approx 1:00 pm)
  • 47th Annual Kelowna Folkfest Celebrations - presenting Canada's cultural mosaic through culinary experiences and live performances
  • 4th Annual Canada Day Concert presented by the Kelowna City Band

Waterfront Park features the 23rd annual "Celebrate Canada Day-Kelowna" including:
